๐Ÿฉฐ Welcome to SoaR

We're an adult-focused dance school based in Perth's southern suburbs, offering classical ballet classes for everyone from complete beginners to experienced dancers returning to the studio.
Unlike traditional dance schools primarily built around children, our classes are designed specifically for adults, with structured learning, experienced teachers and a welcoming, supportive environment. Whether you're dancing for enjoyment, fitness, friendship or personal achievement, there's a place for you at SoaR.
With evening and weekend classes across the Cockburn area, including Atwell, Aubin Grove and Bibra Lake, fitting ballet into your week has never been easier.
And getting started? That's easy too.
Our Discovery SoaR Membership gives you unlimited access to eligible classes, with your first week completely FREE, followed by three weeks at half price ($30/week), before continuing at our standard $60/week.
Real ballet. Real progression. At your own pace.
No experience required.
Just bring yourself and a willingness to try something new.

๐Ÿ‘‹ Who We Are

SoaR Dance Studio was founded by husband-and-wife team Emma and Charlie Hunter with a simple goal: make ballet more accessible, welcoming, and human for adults.
We believe dance should be available to everyone, regardless of age, fitness level, flexibility, experience, or background.
Our classes are designed to help adults reconnect with movement, confidence, creativity, and a version of themselves they may have lost touch with along the way.
Whether you're stepping into a studio for the first time or returning after years away, you'll be welcomed exactly as you are.

๐Ÿง  Built for Adults, Not Adapted from Children's Classes

Because adults learn differently

Traditional ballet education is designed around children who are still growing and developing, physically and cognitively.
Children typically learn ballet over many years, gradually developing their coordination, technique, understanding and movement vocabulary. They might learn a little of twenty different things simultaneously, slowly building on each as they grow.
But adults are different.
We already have years of life experience, developed reasoning skills and the ability to understand complex concepts. We can ask questions, understand explanations and make connections that younger students may not yet be ready for.
And frankly, we get bored easily!
So why should we spend years learning ballet exactly the same way children do?

A Different Approach to Learning

At SoaR, we've turned the traditional approach on its head.
Rather than learning 10% of ten different things at once, we focus on learning one thing in depth, understanding how it works, why it works and how to apply it.
Then next week, we tackle something new.
One step. One concept. One new tool in your ballet toolbox.
Over time, those individual pieces begin connecting, giving you the knowledge and confidence to tackle increasingly complex movements and combinations.
It's a structured, engaging approach that respects the way adults think, learn and develop.
We're not trying to turn adults into professional ballerinas overnight. We're giving adults the opportunity to learn ballet properly, in a way that makes sense for them.
Because adult ballet shouldn't simply be children's ballet with older students.
It should be built for adults from the beginning.

๐Ÿฉฐ Your Journey as an Adult Dancer

Whether you're taking your very first steps or returning after years away, there's a place for you at SoaR.
We've developed a progressive pathway specifically for adult dancers, allowing you to build your knowledge, confidence and technique one step at a time.

๐ŸŒฑ Fast Track โ€” Your First Steps into Ballet

Never danced before? Start here!
Our Fast Track introductory course consists of just three classes, designed to introduce you to the absolute foundations of classical ballet.
You'll discover the ballet barre, how to use it, the fundamental positions of the feet, arms and body, and the essential movements that form the building blocks of everything to come.
Think of it as your introduction to the language of ballet, giving you the confidence to step into your first regular class without feeling completely lost.

๐Ÿฉฐ Pre-Beginner โ€” Building Your Ballet Toolbox

Danced as a child, or completed Fast Track? Start here!
Our Pre-Beginner programme follows a rotating 12-week curriculum, with each class introducing a particular *Step of the Week*.
Rather than throwing you into a traditional ballet class where everyone seems to know what they're doing, we break things down into manageable pieces, exploring individual steps, their technique and how they work.
Every class is standalone, so there's no need to wait for a new term or enrol at Week 1. Jump in whenever you're ready and gradually build your ballet toolbox, one step at a time. Literally!

โœจ Beginner โ€” Putting It All Together

Danced somewhat recently, or already comfortable with the fundamentals? Start here!
This is where all those individual pieces begin coming together!
Our Beginner classes follow a more traditional ballet class structure, combining familiar movements into increasingly interesting exercises and combinations.
You'll begin connecting steps, developing musicality, coordination and fluidity, and discovering how the foundations you've learned become something that looks and feels like dancing.
It's familiar, challenging and incredibly rewarding as things begin to click into place.

๐ŸŒŸ Elementary โ€” The Next Challenge

Confident in Beginner ballet and ready for more? This is your next step!
Elementary builds on everything you've developed in Beginner, introducing more complex combinations, changes of direction, greater technical demands and new movement vocabulary.
While Beginner classes challenge your body to understand and perform the movements, Elementary begins challenging your mind just as much.
You'll develop the ability to remember longer combinations, respond to increasingly complex choreography and bring greater precision, coordination and artistry to your dancing.
And the best part? There's no race to the finish line.
Whether you stay in Pre-Beginner for six months, enjoy Beginner for years, or work your way through the levels, your ballet journey is entirely your own.
